• I drifted over and sat down. There was sliced cantaloupe on the table. Sarah turned to Heidi who was still cooking away on her plastic range.
• "OK, Heidi, this one's yours. You want ham and cheese and tomato like your mom?" It was a nice try, but her face scrunched up at the tomato, so Sarah left it out. I'd probably be able to get her to eat some cantaloupe, so I started to cut up a slice. A few minutes later Sarah had finished her own omelet and we were all seated around the kitchen table.
• "So, what's on tap for you guys today? Anything exciting?" Sarah looked at me over the rim of her coffee mug.
